OddJobit Privacy Policy — Customers
Effective date: 2026-09-11 Who we are: OddJobit LLC — admin@oddjobit.com
DRAFT — prepared with AI assistance for attorney review. Not yet reviewed by counsel. Do not publish until reviewed.
This policy explains what personal information OddJobit collects from customers, how it's used and shared, and the choices you have. Plain-language summaries appear first in each section; nothing in a summary overrides the details.
1. What We Collect
From you directly: - Account information — name and mobile phone number (your sign-in), and an email address if you choose to give one for receipts. - Request content — the text of every request you submit, which may include anything you choose to write: addresses, schedules, access instructions such as door or gate codes, names of household members, and other details of your household or errand. Please include sensitive details only when the job needs them. - Profile information you save — addresses, known contacts, and standing preferences you store for reuse. - Photos — images you attach to requests, which may show your home, belongings, or other personal details. We remove location metadata (EXIF, except orientation) before storing photos. - Clarification answers and cancellation messages.
Automatically: - Job records — every step of each request (interpretation, screening results, edits, quotes, payments, status changes) is recorded in an audit trail. - Technical data — IP address (recorded when you accept these terms, and used for rate limiting), session data, and security logs (for example, sign-in code requests and attempts, and rate-limit events). Sign-in codes themselves are stored only in a form that cannot be read back, and expire within minutes.
From others: - Payment confirmation data from Stripe (payment status, dispute status). We never receive or store your full card number. - Location data from Google Maps when we resolve addresses in your requests.
We do not collect precise geolocation from your device, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.
2. How We Use It
- To run your requests: interpreting your text, screening it, resolving addresses, calculating a quote from our rates, scheduling, and processing payment.
- To do the work: the people performing your job use the information needed to review, price, and perform it.
- To communicate operationally: text messages (SMS) to your phone number for sign-in codes, quotes, payments, job status, and your account, and receipts or account notices by email if you gave us one. We do not use your information for marketing.
- To keep the service safe: screening photos for prohibited explicit content, screening requests for illegal or prohibited activity, rate limiting, fraud and abuse prevention, and security monitoring.
- To keep records: maintaining the audit trail of each job for dispute resolution, payment reconciliation, quality, and legal compliance.
- To comply with law.
3. Automated (AI) Processing
When you submit a request, automated systems — including large language models operated by third-party AI providers (currently OpenAI) — process the text of your request to classify it, screen it, and structure it into a job. These providers process the data under commercial terms that prohibit using your data to train their models, and we configure or request the minimum data retention the provider offers. Photos are never sent to AI language models; photos are screened by Amazon Rekognition (an AWS service) for prohibited explicit content only.
Automated outputs are reviewed by a person before any quote reaches you; no request is accepted, priced finally, or charged without human approval.
4. Who We Share It With
- Service providers (subprocessors) that run our infrastructure, bound by contracts limiting them to providing services to us: Amazon Web Services (hosting, database, text messaging, email, photo storage, photo screening — U.S. region), Stripe (payments), OpenAI (AI request processing), Google (address and routing services).
- Local providers we dispatch: when a local business we arrange performs your job (Terms, Section 3.6), we share what they need to do it. Before you pay: the type of service, the time, the general area (city and ZIP), and any note you added for them. After you pay: the service address and your first name. We do not share your phone number, email address, or account details with providers, and they receive nothing about your other requests.
- Safety and legal: we may disclose information to comply with law or valid legal process; to NCMEC or law enforcement where required in connection with prohibited imagery; or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users, the public, or OddJobit.
- Corporate events: if OddJobit is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. How Long We Keep It
- Account profile data (name, email, phone, saved addresses/contacts/preferences): until you delete your account.
- Job records: records of each request — including the request text and job history — are retained after account deletion as business records, for dispute resolution, fraud prevention, financial reconciliation, audit, and legal compliance. Photos attached to jobs are retained with those records.
- Quarantined content (photos blocked by screening): retained in a restricted store for up to 30 days, subject to extension under a legal hold if the content is or may be subject to a legal or incident-response preservation obligation.
- Security and technical logs: retained for up to 30 days.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and correction: you can view and edit your saved profile in your account, and view your request history.
- Deletion: you can delete your account in settings (not while a job is in progress). Deletion removes your name, email, and phone number from your account profile and disables sign-in. Job records are retained as described in Section 5.
- California residents: California law may give you rights to know, delete, correct, and limit certain uses of personal information, subject to exceptions (including record-keeping, security, and legal-compliance exceptions). To make a request, email admin@oddjobit.com or contact us through the service; we will verify your identity via the phone number on your account and respond as the law requires. We do not discriminate against you for exercising rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of on that front. You may use an authorized agent as California law provides.
- Residents of other states with privacy laws may have similar rights; contact us at admin@oddjobit.com.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, encrypted storage, server-side revocable sessions, access controls, rate limiting, and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure; protect your phone and never share a sign-in code, and contact admin@oddjobit.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
8. Children
The service is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and children may not have accounts. Your requests may incidentally mention members of your household, including children; that content is handled as request content under this policy. If you believe a child has created an account, contact admin@oddjobit.com.
9. Where Data Is Processed
Our systems run in the United States (AWS, us-west-2). If you use the service from outside the U.S., your information is processed in the U.S.
10. Changes
We'll post updates here and, for material changes, notify you by text, by email if you gave us one, or in-product before they take effect.
